If you have been living under a rock for the past several days, you are in luck: iGB has your back with the Weekend Report. This week, the Gaming Corps secured a licence in Ontario, Penn announced board changes, and the state of Pennsylvania joined a multi-state online poker deal.
A Poker Game in Pennsylvania
Poker is now in Pennsylvania Online Gambling Compact Among Multiple States
The Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA) for poker now includes Pennsylvania, making it the sixth US state to do so.
Participation in the multi-state events will be open to online poker players from Pennsylvania. Starting today (28 April), customers of specific operators will get access to this, since Pennsylvania has increased the number of potential online poker players by more than 50% for those sites.
Participating states in the MSIGA now include Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Nevada, Delaware, and Michigan. Poker games will be facilitated by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board in collaboration with operators and other state organisations.
The deal was approved last week by Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro. Hundreds of thousands of Pennsylvanians, our schools, our elders, our small companies, and more would benefit from a stronger economy, he added, adding that this is a "common sense step."
The DC Lottery and Allwyn North America launch new games
At the same time, Allwyn North America's portfolio games, which it developed in conjunction with the DC Lottery, have debuted not far from Pennsylvania.
The whole Allwyn library is now available to players in DC. The DC Lottery-themed Super Cash Bolt, one of several titles in the Cash Bolt series, will launch first.
In order to distribute its games through InstantRGS, Allwyn North America collaborates with Instant Win Gaming.
"The mission of the DC Lottery is to responsibly maximise lottery funding for our communities - and our players expect high-quality gaming experiences," stated Eugene Vlasenko, interim executive director of the DC Lottery.
Ontario licence awarded to Gaming Corps
Game Corps has obtained a permit from the Ontario Alcohol and Gaming Commission, which is located north of the border.
With their new licence, game Corps, a Swedish company, can create and distribute game content in Ontario. According to Gaming Corps, they have already established partnerships with other licensed operators in the Canadian province.
Launch time is when Gaming Corps will release some of its most popular sports-themed games. Among these are titles like Hoop Champion and Shootout Champion, which will reportedly be adapted to meet the needs of the local market.
"This licence enhances our ability to access new markets and further solidifies our resolve to operate exclusively within jurisdictions that have issued us a valid licence," stated Juha Kauppinen, CEO of Gaming Corps. Ontario has great promise for player engagement and long-term growth, especially given the increasing demand for unique content.
Penn Entertainment will be updating their board
A number of planned board member changes have been revealed by Penn Entertainment.
Nominations for the Penn board of directors have been extended to Carlos Ruisanchez and Johnny Hartnett. This is in response to HG Vora Capital Management's conversations.
In the meantime, Ron Naples has announced his immediate retirement to the board. Penn has also received notices from Barbara Shattuck Kohn and Saul Reibstein, who have both informed the company that they would not be seeking re-election at the forthcoming annual shareholder meeting.
Thus, there are a total of eight directors on the board, with seven of them serving as independent directors.
"We are excited to have Johnny's and Carlos' new ideas on board as the company enters a pivotal period," the Penn board stated.
New UK office for LeoVegas launched!
The new Leeds office is LeoVegas's second in the United Kingdom.
The entire first and lower level of Tailor's Corner will be occupied by LeoVegas. The current group office in Newcastle, UK, will receive assistance from the new office.
This, according to the operator, will bolster the further growth of BetMGM and LeoVegas in the United Kingdom market.
"It's an important step towards our key goal to continue building the strength of our hero brands in the UK - BetMGM and LeoVegas - by attracting top talent," said Gethin Evans, managing director UK and Ireland at LeoVegas.
