Poker players from all around the world are taking part in the PokerGO Cup series, which is now in full swing. Event #6, a No-Limit Hold'em competition with a $25,000 buy-in, just concluded. Daniel Negreanu won the competition after outlasting the other 35 players that took part in it. Negreanu has now won two PokerGO Cup event championships.
But opposed to the chip leader Sean Winter, Negreanu had fewer chips when he arrived at the final table on Tuesday. He did not give up though, and he finally won the competition.
The top three players in the poker tournament would eventually be eliminated. Negreanu opted to raise 125,000 while holding pocket kings. With pocket 10s, Vikenty Shegal was holding the second-most chips. He made the decision to bid 1.36 million.
But, Negreanu was prepared and immediately called while displaying his hand. Negreanu won the hand when the board read 7-Q-4-A-2, and Shegal was eliminated in third place.
With 85% of the chips when the round gets underway, Negreanu now has a significant chip advantage against Winter. Yet, it was not going to end fast. Although being ready to fight back, Winter was unable to overtake the opposition.
In the end, Winter's all-in with the Q-10 of clubs would determine the outcome of the hand. Negreanu displayed the A–J of clubs. When the cards 9-8-A-K-10 were drawn, Negreanu won the hand and the competition. The poker professional expressed his excitement at the victory and said it felt great to take the crown.
Event #8 of the PokerGO Cup is still going on. To determine who will win the championship, players are still competing on the felt. A $50,000 No-Limit Hold'em competition at Event #8 attracted 18 players to participate. The prize pool now stands at $900,000. The beginning stack of supplied chips was 200,000. Negreanu was still competing as of this writing but was out of chips.
Moreover, PokerGO is preparing for the Global Poker Awards. The third edition of the awards will be presented on February 18 at the PokerGO Studio inside the ARIA Resort & Casino. The evening will present more than 20 honours, including Poker ICON and 2021 GPI Player of the Year.
